Anna Kinberg Batra keeps the million salary: “Where does JO keep a house?”

Anna Kinberg Batra keeps the million salary Where does JO

On Wednesday, the government clarified that they lacked confidence in Anna Kinberg Batra as governor of Stockholm. This after a series of commitments that were strongly criticized by the Ombudsman for Justice (JO).

During his time as governor, Kinberg Batra has on two occasions already decided in advance which people will be employed. In a third case, she hired a person who did not meet the requirements for employment. Even then, her colleagues noticed this and told her that the person should not be considered for the position.

Anna Kinberg Batra ignored this and hired the person despite the advice. In one of the cases mentioned above, Kinberg Batra was fierce, as she is the godmother of that person’s child.

In other words, Anna Kinberg Batra has violated the form of government, that is, the Swedish constitution.

Anna Kinberg Batra keeps her salary: “Just changed workplace”

Kinberg Batra was party leader for the Moderates between 2015 and 2017. In 2023, she was appointed governor by the Kristerssonn government, a role she is now forced to leave.

Something she is not forced to leave behind is the million dollar salary.

– She keeps her title and salary, she has only changed workplaces, says Göran Sundströmprofessor of political science at Stockholm University, to News24.

Anna Kinberg Batra will end up at the Government Office, where several other former directors-general are placed.

The salary she had during her time as governor has not exactly been small, something that Nyheter24 previously reported on. Before she became governor, she had a fixed earned income of SEK 1,955,700 a year, which gives a monthly salary of SEK 162,975.

As governor, she had an annual income of almost 6,500,000 kroner – which she will also have now. Her monthly salary is SEK 122,400.

– I get a lot of emails from private individuals who ask why this person is not punished, says Sundström to Nyheter24.

The political scientist: “Where does JO keep his house?”

He says that he tried several times to get in touch with JO but failed. He himself does not understand why Kinberg Batra must not face any reprisals.

– I’m just wondering: “Where does JO keep his house?”

Sundström explains that it is JO or the government that can decide whether an investigation against Kinberg Batra should be started or not. And JO has already made his decision.

– The government is well aware of the state of opinion now. If they face criticism, they might turn around and let Kinberg Batra be investigated, if they don’t face any major criticism, they probably won’t do anything, says Sundström.
