▸ That right-wing winds are blowing in Europe is really nothing new. We have seen it in Italy, Germany, Sweden and now most recently in Austria. Because when the Austrians went to the polls this weekend, the result would be historic. The scandal-ridden far-right party, FPÖ, became the largest. The party was founded in 1955 by former Nazis. Now almost 70 years later, the party went to the polls with proposals to “protect” children from drag queens, that immigrants should lose their citizenship and to introduce emergency laws to abolish the right to asylum.
