Elden Ring speedrun record dropped to 8 minutes

A new one is added to the Elden Ring speedrun records every day. After 12 minutes, Distortion2’s new record for finishing the game was 8 minutes.

Elden Ring speedrun records are overlapping. The new speedrun record, 8 minutes 56 seconds, came from Youtuber called Distortion 2.

The previous record was held by Youtuber Mitchriz, who finished Elden Ring in 12 minutes. Mitchriz took advantage of a bug in the game that almost skipped the entire map and ended the game without even interrupting the boss. By finishing Elden Ring in less than half an hour, he carried his current Distortion 2 record even further.

Elden Ring can’t get enough of speedrun records, FromSoftware hasn’t fixed the bug yet

Thanks to the strategy that requires players to take a defensive position and then slowly take a certain number of steps, using the method also known as the “zip strategy”, the game throws the character to the other end of the map, so to speak, with a catapult, and the player not only passes the map, but also gets the achievements of all bosses when they finish the game.

Distortion 2 had a hard time during the speedrun. The publisher, who progressed without cutting any bosses, died in one of the jump attempts, and lost more than 1 minute while trying to “zip” in one. How much these speedruns will shorten the game seems to be up to the perseverance of the players.

FromSoftware has not yet been able to fix the aforementioned error.
