Player buys an SSD for 50 euros – accidentally receives 40 SSDs worth over 2,000 euros

A player orders an SSD for his computer. But instead of an SSD, he gets sent a whole box of SSDs. He is confused about what to do with it.

A player reports that a friend messaged him on Discord (via reddit.com). He told him that he had ordered a new SSD for his computer. But when he opened the package, he was amazed: instead of a 1 TB SSD, he received a whole box with 40 SSDs. The user himself asks: “Is this the way it should be?”

How much money is involved? You can get the SSD for around 50 euros, but the user received 40 of them. Roughly speaking, the value of the goods he received was around 2,000 euros.

What do users say? On Reddit they appear genuinely surprised and amused by the buyer’s reaction.

Another user explains what is behind the “error”. Because normally the SSDs in this box are only delivered to Amazon, but not to the customer. The anonymous employee also couldn’t say what exactly went wrong:

I work at Amazon, this is a distribution box where they [die SSDs] normally come and should be sorted out. Damn lucky.

Too many goods delivered do not belong to the “buyer”.

Can I just keep the goods? No, because the excess SSDs delivered do not belong to the user. After all, you have only concluded a purchase agreement with Amazon for a certain amount. MeinMMO spoke to a lawyer and asked what you should do if you received too many goods. This is how he explains:

Even if you would like to keep the excess delivery, you have no right to do so. In such cases one is “enriched” in the legal sense without there being any legal reason for this. Therefore, you have to help ensure that the goods get back to the seller. If you as a customer remain stubborn, criminal action could even be taken into consideration.

When and how do the goods have to be returned? Basically, as the lawyer explains: The fault of overdelivery lies with the seller and not with the customer. Therefore, the seller has to pay for the error and find a solution.

The recommendation is therefore to give the seller a deadline for the return. Deadlines are important because they allow you to protect yourself. Because you can prove that you actively approached the seller.

The seller can then either pick up the goods themselves or provide you with a shipping label. Because you don’t have to send anything back at your own expense. After all, it’s the seller’s fault and not yours.

What the seller is also not allowed to do: suddenly charge fees for over-delivered goods or expect you to buy all the hardware that was over-delivered to you. You can reject all requests in this direction without any problems.

Issues with returns: Sellers like Amazon are not always accommodating or helpful when it comes to returns. This is shown by the story of a family man.
