The huge rumor about Jörgen Jönsson in the SHL – can now go to the league rival

The success coach Jörgen Jonsson is on an expiring contract and now comes a huge rumor about his future. The former SHL great player is in his third season as head coach of the Växjö Lakers and has really impressed with a SM gold and a semi-final place in two seasons.

But now he can leave the club and be singled out as at the top of the wish list of another SHL rival, Expressen reports. Färjestad, which is close to Jönsson’s heart, is looking for a new head coach then Tomas Mitell also on an expiring contract and rumored to go abroad after the current season.

Jörgen Jönsson is an icon within FBK and a return naturally attracts all parties.
– I enjoy myself very much in Växjö. But I also had a fantastic time in Färjestad. We sit and talk all the time, me and “Henke” (Evertsson, sports manager in Växjö), then we’ll see where it goes. It’s no secret that I have an expiring contract, he says to the evening newspaper.

Färjestad’s sports director Richard Wallin looks over the market for new coaches and unsurprisingly Jönsson is seen as the big top candidate. FBK were interested in the 52-year-old already when Växjö signed a contract with him, but were snubbed then.

Now a dream return can become a reality for next season. Since before, Jörgen Jönsson’s family still lives in Karlstad.
– I want to be head coach in the SHL, says Jörgen himself about the future and admits in the interview that he has not spoken to Wallin.
– The speculation about this is probably mostly among you in the media. But with me it’s not like that.
