Outbreak of scabies at the Kumla Institution among inmates

The facility has ten confirmed cases and has not had a scabies outbreak at this level before.

– There is a risk of spread and we are working on them, says Markus Winberg, deputy head of the institution, to P4 Örebro.

Scabies is transmitted, among other things, by prolonged skin-to-skin contact, via clothing, towels and bedding.

– We look over the spread of infection and make sure they get the right medical treatment. They get a cream and then we change the bedding after the first night and then again after three days, says Markus Winberg.
