Two days after the Hezbollah leader was killed, Israel continues with intensive attacks on targets in Lebanon on Sunday.

“Very alarming”

Kassem Hamadé, foreign reporter at Expressen, describes the situation in Lebanon as “very alarming”.

– Injured and dead remain under the race masses and the rescue work is very difficult, says Kassem Hamadé in TV4’s Efter fem on Sunday.

Deadly Israeli attacks were also reported in eastern Lebanon on Sunday. 21 people are said to have been killed and more than 45 injured in the village of Baalbek-Hermel, according to the country’s health ministry.

The attacks have also continued against the suburb of Dahieh in southern Beirut, where Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed on Friday.

In total, over 70 people are said to have been killed in the attacks on Sunday. At the same time, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health states that a total of over 1,000 people have been killed in the attacks of the past few days.

A million on the run

The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, states that one million people have been forced to leave their homes. Around a quarter of a million people are in shelters, according to the country’s Environment Minister Nasser Yassin.

Lack of food

The UN Food Program (WFP) has sent emergency aid including bread, hot meals and food packages for one million people to the conflict-torn country.

At the same time, there is a great shortage of toiletries.

– Grocery stores in southern Beirut are empty of food. People have tried to hoard as much as possible, says Kassem Hamadén.

Attacks on Yemen

Yemen was also attacked by Israel on Sunday.

Several targets in the port cities of Hodeidah and Ras Issa have been attacked by dozens of warplanes. This is announced by the Israeli military.

The attacks come after the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi movement has recently shelled Israel, partly in response to the Israeli strikes that killed Shia militia Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday.

According to Huthi-controlled media, among other things, two power plants have been shelled.
