Madrids expected local match was suspended for twenty minutes

In the Spanish Premier League, the referee stopped the Madrid Derby around the 70th minute on Sunday night.

The local football game in Madrid took a nasty turn a good twenty minutes before the end, when objects were thrown onto the field by supporters of the home team Atletico Madrid.

Real’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had to clean up a lot of matches and other rubbish from his own penalty area before the referee stopped the game.

Atletico head coach Diego Simeone and home team players Experiment and Jose Gimenez tried to calm the supporters in the end stand.

At the time of the stoppage, Real Madrid led the match 1–0 Eder Militao in the 64th minute with a shot on goal.

After about twenty minutes of waiting, the players and referees marched back onto the field, and the Derby was able to continue.

The match is still in progress.
