Marie Göranzon remembers her first meeting with Jan Malmsjö

Last out of this year’s season of “What a life!” is it Marie Göranzon who should be celebrated. Several have come to the Oscar Theater in Stockholm to lift Marie, such as her daughter Lolo and grandson Vincent, colleagues such as Krister Henriksson and Marie Louise Ekman, and best friend Britt Ekland.

Someone who, on the other hand, is not there is her great love Jan Malmsjö, with whom she has now lived together for 55 years. He pays tribute to her instead in a video greeting.

– Suddenly we just discovered each other. I don’t have any… But you love each other. We’ve had a lot of fun. Her presence, just having her here with me. We have done so much together. She has enormous strength on stage, says Jan Malmsjö.

– She’s damn funny, she is. How much do I love her? Damn it.

Marie was 27 when she and Jan met. In “What a Life!” she recalls her very first meeting with him. It was when Marie and her friend Britt Ekland went to Axel Witzansky’s theater school and, together with others, were to act out scenes, that Jan came there to watch.

– He looked at you then because you were so incredibly cute, says Marie to Britt.

But Britt disagrees.

– Yes! That’s what made me so angry. Not that I cared about him then, but he looked at you a lot, says Marie.

– He was there to watch because it was fun to watch. But then he caught sight of her and his eyes turned inside out, I remember that, she continues.

Afterwards, Marie remembers how she and Jan met in the hall.

– What a fucking strop I thought he was and then he said to me like this “are you going to apply to Dramaten?”. “Yes, maybe I will! How so?”. “I think you’ll come in,” he said. So I just swung my butt and left, says Marie.

What was it that she fell for?

– It was a charming, open one. complicated superstar who… He was very hardworking and very charming and very nice. I fell for all that complex stuff.
