She wants to ban tattoos for children

The tattoo artist Helena receives requests from minors every week – refuses

At Helena Bozza Skjöldmöe’s studio, Bozza Workshop in Luleå, they neither tattoo nor remove tattoos on minors, even if there is no ban in Sweden.

Despite that, they receive several requests from minors who both want tattoos and laser tattoo removal.

– It’s terrible to say no. I understand that this person will at all costs remove it or tattoo over it again, says Helena Skjöldmöe.

Now she wants to ban minors from getting tattoos and change the law, even if they have their parents’ or guardian’s approval, something Norrbottens-Kuriren previously reported on.

– Children should not get tattoos at all, often when you have younger people who want to get a tattoo, I usually ask them to do a consultation with us with their parents, which is free with us. Often it’s not that the parents think it’s a good idea, but that they can’t say no, says Helena.

Receives requests from minors every week

Tattooing over an unwanted tattoo instead of lasering it can lead to problems, as it may be even more difficult in the future to remove it. Many choose to add several darker layers on top of the unwanted tattoo, according to Helena.

– In the end it looks too damned, and then they have several layers of tattoos. It will be extremely expensive to laser it later, says Helena.

Despite the salon’s ban, there are more and more minors coming in who have regretted it and want to have their tattoos lasered off, but also those who want to get tattooed.

– We probably have four to five requests from minors every week who want tattoos, says Helena.

At the same time, demand is increasing in all age groups among those who want to remove a tattoo.

– It has been the last two years that it has exploded, says Helena.

In the worst case, can lead to sepsis

Many do not understand that it is a longer treatment that must be carried out and there is a risk that you may get blisters.

– It’s a very heavy treatment, it’s nowhere near getting a tattoo. We do an electrical fire damage, then it has to be taken care of, says Helena.

During a laser treatment, the person receives clear instructions on how to take care of the lasered area, as things can go wrong if you don’t do it. Therefore, Helena believes that you cannot burden children with that aftercare.

– If you get an infection in a lasered area, you can get sepsis, so it’s a heavy treatment, says Helena
