During his sports career, the former cross-country skier succeeded Gunde Swan collect four Olympic gold medals and seven World Cup gold medals. That makes him one of the best cross-country skiers ever.
Gunde Svan has also worked with a whole series of hit programs in the television box such as “The prisoners on the fort”, “Gladiators”, “Bingolotto” and “In the head of Gunde Svan”.

For over 40 years, Gunde Svan has lived together with his wife Marie Swanand the pair have supported each other throughout their respective careers. Namely, Marie Svan has won both the Vasaloppet and several SM golds. The couple have children together Julia and Ferry Swanwho today are 31 and 26 years old respectively.

Gunde Svan about his wife Marie Svan: “It wasn’t easy”
For News24 has Gunde Svan told about the recipe for success behind the marriage, and how he and Marie have actually managed to stay together for so long.
You and your wife have been married for about 40 years, right?
– Yes, we met in high school and have been a couple ever since. So that’s 40 plus years even.
Who took the first step?
– I had to work quite hard for that, I can say. It wasn’t easy.

How do you stay together for more than 40 years? What have you done?
– I think it’s a bit like with any colleague. You learn to match each other in some way. She is quite different from me in some ways, but we have a lot in common that I think has united us over time, Gunde Svan says and continues:
– Since then, we have also worked as a team, and then I feel an enormous sense of security. She complements me when she sees that I’m floating out and starting to choose the wrong things. Then I always get to hear it.
