Everyone celebrates the Dyna monsters in Pokémon GO, but they aren’t all that great

Pokémon GO has been dominated by Dynamax for a few weeks now. MeinMMO author Paul Kutzner doesn’t find the feature all that exciting.

The new Dynamax function has been available in Pokémon GO for a few weeks. You can fight with gigantic versions of some monsters.

While many Pokémon GO trainers around me are excited about the new feature, there is one person who isn’t so keen on it – me.

Expensive upgrades, boring fights

What excites me about Pokémon GO? Pokémon GO offers activities to invest your time in for many different tastes. Some trainers focus primarily on collecting Pokémon. What interests me most is fighting.

While I’m also in the fighting league, where my team was recently severely devalued, I’m particularly interested in fighting in raids. Defeating strong Pokémon with a strong team and as few other trainers as possible is one of the main motivations for me in Pokémon GO.

Collecting more monsters that are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO and then defeating even more strong monsters alone, in groups of two or three is incredibly fun for me.

Why don’t I care about Dynamax? The new Dynamax function is of little use to me for this gaming purpose. Of course, by placing Dynamax monsters in power sources, I can get some regular candies. However, these are not monsters that I use in raids. Or, in the example of Charmander, monsters of which I already have more than enough candies and specimens.

Also, I don’t want to invest candies, and even less XL candies, to unlock Dyna attacks or level up the Dyna monsters. I prefer to invest the special candies I receive through the Battle League in my legendary raid Pokémon. And XL candies are so rare anyway that I spend a lot of time deciding what to use them for.

The second important point is the way Dyna battles play out. Personally, I don’t find the fights really exciting, so in addition to the potential resources that I don’t want to invest here, the fighting itself doesn’t offer me any particular appeal.

Yes, fighting in raids doesn’t offer any more excitement. But here, as already mentioned, I have the motivation to successfully complete a raid with as few trainers as possible.

So I’ll probably continue to look for strong monsters in the future instead of building teams for Dynamax. Speaking of strong monsters: You will soon be able to get a Pokémon in its Crypto version for the first time – Pokémon GO is bringing a new Rocket event with strong, legendary Crypto
