Three matches were played in the men’s volleyball Championship League on Saturday, and five in the women’s main series.
The Men’s Championship League saw only home wins, when KyKy defeated Hurmos 3–0 (25–22, 25–15, 25–22), VaLePa Nujersi Tiikerit 3–1 (25–23, 19–25, 25–16, 25–16 ) and Savo Volley scored in a thriller to beat Hurricane 3–2 (25–16, 25–20, 20–25, 20–25, 19–17).
Savo Volley won the first official match at Kuopio’s new Luola Hall, when the reigning champion Hurrikaani-Loimaa went down in a five-set struggle. The visitors had two match balls, Savo Volley, on the other hand, settled the fight for their third place.
The home team’s success was a chipper Joonas Jokelan along with central players Tommi Siirilä and Petteri Härkönen. Savo Volley’s new head coach Arttu Keränen immediately got a tasty taste of victory.
A whole lot of new players were seen in the hurricane. The game was running Mathew Westcoach for general players Olli Kuoksa had received Gianni Camden and by Zachary Hollands. At this stage of the season, there are still applications in the joint game. The hurricane fell to a wild number of passing errors, Savo Volley got as many as 32 points for free.
In the women’s volleyball main series, LP-Vampula and LP Kangasala managed to narrowly win 3–2 away from home.
LP-Vampula rose from the swamp after two losing sets and crowned their evening in the fifth set with a 15–12 set win over LiigaPlok. LP Kangasala won in an even game in the fifth set with LP Viest’s follow-up balls 21–19.
In other games, Puijo Wolley beat Kuusamo 3–2 (26–28, 22–25, 25–23, 25–21, 15–8), Hämeenlinna Arctic Volley 3–1 (16–25, 29–27, 25–16, 25–15) and OrPo JymyVolley 3–0 (25–21, 25–16, 26–24).
