A TV commentator was shot after a Europa League match

The incident happened in Turkey after the Fenerbahce match.

Commentator for a Turkish television channel Serhat Akin says in X that he was shot in the leg after Thursday’s Europa League soccer match between Fenerbahce and Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise in Istanbul.

Akin, 43, was leaving the studio after the match. Bild newspaper reports based on the Turkish news agency Anadolu, that the suspected shooter was captured on a surveillance camera as he fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The Turkish Akin was born in Germany and represented Fenerbahce, Anderlecht, Cologne and Karlsruhe as a player. Akin represented Turkey between 2002 and 2005 in a total of 16 men’s international matches, where he scored three goals.
