The French have on average 5 weeks of vacation per year, or 25 days, but by planning it skillfully, you will be able to go away for two months next year!
The summer holidays are now behind you and you are already thinking about your next destination next year? Please note that if, like most employees, you only have 25 days of leave, you will be able to more than double them in 2025 thanks to public holidays!
Because next year, 10 of the 11 public holidays fall during the week and not during the weekend.
Indeed, January 1, 2025 falls on a Wednesday, Easter, on Monday, April 21, 2025, and May 1 and 8, on a Thursday. The ascension takes place on Thursday May 29, 2025, Pentecost, Monday June 9, 2025, July 14, a Monday and Assumption, Friday August 15, 2025. Finally, if All Saints’ Day falls on Saturday November 1, 2025, November 11 takes place on a Tuesday and Christmas, on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
As public holidays mainly take place during the week, you can have much more vacation than expected by skillfully scheduling your days off. So, you can have five days of vacation in January if you take Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January after the New Year’s holiday. In April and early May, you can rest for 16 days if you take leave between Tuesday April 22 and Friday May 2. The month of May is usually a pleasant month for employees because of its three public holidays. So, you can enjoy it even more this year if you organize a long weekend by setting aside Friday May 9. Same thing between Thursday, May 29 and Sunday, June 1 if you are off on Friday, May 30.
In July, you will automatically have a three-day weekend, with July 14 falling on a Monday, but you can extend it by adding 4 days between July 15 and 18. This will be the same case in August where you will be able to automatically benefit from a three-day weekend, August 15th taking place on Friday, or four days if you call Thursday the 14th.
In November, you can have 9 days of vacation by setting Monday 10, Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Friday 14 November, November 11 falling on Tuesday 11. Finally, during the last month of the year, you can also have 9 days off by setting December 22, 23, 24 and 26, the 25th having taken place on a Thursday! By accumulating all these days of rest and optimizing the public holidays in the calendar, you can therefore benefit from 60 days of vacation over the year
