During these two separate meetings, Volodomyr Zelensky was able to present his “victory plan” to the two Democrats, before presenting it this Friday to Republican candidate Donald Trump, often critical of him.
“Strengthen the plan”
“During my meeting with President Biden, I presented him with the plan for victory. We discussed details to strengthen the plan, coordinate our positions, our views and our approaches. We asked our teams to consult on the next steps”, declared the Ukrainian president on his social networks. “I (also) shared the details of the victory plan with Vice President Kamala Harris. It is very important for us to be fully understood and to work in full coordination with the United States. We must end this war, we need a just peace,” he added.
NATO, weapons, military operation… A plan in four main points
If the Ukrainian president was tight-lipped about the precise details of this plan, a few points leaked into the press. THE Kyiv Independent explains, for example, that the plan “should address military, political, diplomatic and economic strategies.” It aims to “create such conditions and such an atmosphere that Russia will no longer be able to ignore the peace formula and the peace summit,” a source close to the Ukrainian president told the newspaper.
THE British daily newspaper Times also got wind of a four-point plan. According to his information, the plan includes “a request for Western security guarantees similar to the NATO mutual defense pact”, the “continuation of Ukraine’s incursion into the Russian region of Kursk in order to have a territorial bargaining chip”, a demand for arms and the question of international financial aid.
The Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Independent supplements this information by stating that, according to information obtained, “Ukraine will apply for NATO membership in the months and not in the coming years”, and recalls that the head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, declared earlier this week that an invitation to join NATO was part of the plan. However, no partial ceasefire will be on the menu.
