SAS on future plans at Sundsvall Timrå Airport – aims for more departures from Midlanda next year

The announcement that SAS is canceling its flights from Sundsvall Timrå Airport in November and December came on Wednesday. The explanation is a lack of vehicles.

– We are without a number of planes that we planned to have. That’s why there are three airports in Sweden that have these propeller planes that are affected by a traffic break like for Sundsvall, says Rikard Steinholtz who is a press communicator at SAS.

It was at a business meeting on site in one of the hangars at Sundsvall Timrå airport, on Thursday, that SAS announced its plans.

“Sensitive domestic aviation market”

He regrets that Sundsvall, Ängelholm and Ronneby are affected. He says that it is not unique to have a vehicle shortage in the transport industry.

The Swedish domestic aviation market is sensitive, according to Rikard Steinholtz.

At the meeting on Thursday morning, among others, the airport manager and the municipal councilors for Sundsvall and Timrå were present.
