Football icon Sören Börjesson is dead – he was 68 years old

Örgryte icon Sören Börjesson is dead, writes Göteborgs-Posten. He was 68 years old.
– We are deeply moved and shocked by this and, of course, first and foremost feel very much for Sören’s family, says Öis chairman Terje Johansson to the newspaper.

Sören Börjessonwho died during the night of Thursday, came to Örgryte during the 70s. When Öis won the SM gold in 1985, the club’s first since 1928, Börjesson was team captain. In the same season, he also shared first place in the allsvenskan soccer shooting league.

Börjesson also managed five A international matches during his playing career. When it was over, he had various roles in Örgryte, where for a couple of shorter periods he also jumped in as head coach.

Rest in peace, Sören! 🌹
