JO directs serious criticism at Governor Anna Kinberg Batra after “friend recruitments”

The former party leader for the Moderates, Anna Kinberg Batra, took office as governor of Stockholm last year. Last spring, Aftonbladet was able to reveal that she had recruited two acquaintances, one of whom is a close friend, for jobs at the county board.

One position was only advertised through a note in the county board’s reception, the other was not advertised at all.

TV4 Nyheterna was later able to reveal that a third position also went to a person who did not meet the requirements for an academic degree.

JO directs serious criticism

Following the information in the media, the judicial ombudsman Per Lennerbrant began his review of the cases in April. JO found that Anna Kinberg Batra has not followed the constitutional requirements for objectivity in the recruitments.

– The governor’s actions testify to nonchalance and a lack of respect for the basic regulations that exist to maintain public trust in public activities. All in all, she deserves serious criticism for her actions, says JO Per Lennerbrant.

According to the investigation, Anna Kinberg Batra must have already decided in advance who would get the jobs in two cases and in the third she ignores the requirement for an academic degree. JO is also surprised by how Kinberg Batra has handled the issue of jäv.

– It is remarkable that the governor did not pay enough attention to the jousting issue and made sure that it was handled correctly, says JO Per Lennerbrant.
