Union captain Jon Dahl Tomasson and midfielder Hugo Larsson must have reasonably talked to each other and resolved the conflict they had at the national team’s last meeting.
SVT’s football expert Daniel Nannskog thinks so.
– Anything else would be stupid. It just can’t happen. They must have straightened out the situation, he says.
The former elite player and national team player sees only losers in the controversy. Daniel Nannskog criticizes both parties, but also shows understanding for both Jon Dahl Tomasson’s and Hugo Larsson’s acting.
Nannskog’s honest opinion
– I’m a bit in favor of handling things internally. If you say what Jon Dahl does and it goes out to the entire Swedish people, it means that you sit and watch extremely much whether he (Larsson) plays that ball sideways or if he plays forward. It puts a damn pressure on you that you might have to hit those straight balls all the time, he says, continuing:
– It is enough to go out in the media and say that Hugo needs to work on certain things that they have talked about and maybe not say exactly what it is, even though we in the media love that he is clear. Somewhere I can also think that you should be able to tolerate that as a player

Are you surprised at how outspoken Larsson was?
– Somewhere you can like the cockiness. He thinks he is good, that he should play. Still, you have to like it.
The official reason why Hugo Larsson left the national team was that he had a slight injury. Something that his German club Eintracht Frankfurt did not know at all. Larsson trained and played as usual immediately upon his return. Nannskog is doubtful that Larsson was really injured.
– Now it will only be speculation, but one naturally wonders if he had tired and received signals that he would not start against Estonia. Somewhere in there it might have broken for him.
Who has taken the most damage, “JDT” or Larsson?

– For Tomasson, it will be a flaw in the way he leads the national team, that he doesn’t get everyone to pull in the same direction. For Larsson that he gets a bit of a reputation that he just goes home. No one emerges as a winner. Larsson is too interesting not to be included. Therefore, I hope for a solution. But it cannot be on the condition that he must be allowed to play. It doesn’t work that way, neither in a club nor national team, says Nannskog.
Of course, we all hope for a solution that both parties are satisfied with. Hope and believe that Hugo Larsson returns to the national team and is already in the squad for the next gathering.
