According to the allies, the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah poses the risk of a wider regional escalation.

The Western coalition led by the United States, Britain, and the European Union demands a temporary ceasefire between the Lebanese Hezbollah organization and Israel, The BBC reports.

The United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Qatar and the EU signed a statement proposing a 21-day ceasefire.

According to the statement, a three-week ceasefire in Lebanon would lay the groundwork for diplomatic solutions in the Middle East and a basis for obtaining a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as well.

In a joint statement, the countries stated that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is intolerable and poses the risk of a wider regional escalation.

According to the signatory countries, the deepening of the conflict is not in the interests of Israel or the citizens of Lebanon.

The fighting between Israel and the Lebanese extremist organization Hezbollah has intensified in September.

The Israeli armed forces carried out an attack on Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday. Hezbollah retaliated by firing more than 150 rockets or missiles into Israeli territory over the weekend.

Israel’s military command told its troops on Wednesday that the widespread airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon are training ahead of an Israeli ground attack on enemy territory.
