  • A man in his 40s was robbed outside on Östermalm in Stockholm during the night towards Thursday.

    The police were alerted at 01:55 and began a so far fruitless hunt for the three perpetrators that the victim perceived.

    The man was kicked, beaten and his belongings confiscated. He should not have sustained serious physical injuries, according to the police.

  • Alarm about a gunman in Stockholm

    The police searched during the night towards Thursday for a man with a weapon in central Stockholm.

    The alarm came from a witness at 01 and the police helicopter participated in the work.

    – We have a bigger stake in the city. The caller saw a man who possibly had a weapon. He rode an elevator and got down into the subway at the T station, said duty officer Sylvia Oldin.

    At 01.47 the police ended the chase.

    – We have a good description but have not found him, said Sylvia Oldin.

    A preliminary investigation into serious weapons crime has been launched.

    He also criticizes US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the duo’s support for Ukraine.

    – A peace agreement could have been drawn up if we had had a competent president – instead of a president who instigated everything, says Trump.

  • Iraq executed 21 prisoners

    Iraq executed at least 21 prisoners on Wednesday, most convicted of “terrorism” and being active in IS. This is stated by security sources for the news agency AFP.

    All the detainees were said to have been Iraqi nationals, and all but one were men.

    It is the largest mass execution to be reported from Iraq in many years.

    Last December, 13 prisoners were executed in what UN experts said was the largest mass execution in Iraq since 2020, when 20 prisoners were executed on the same day.

    Iraqi courts have handed down hundreds of death sentences and life sentences in recent years in cases where the accused were accused of “terrorism”.

  • High death toll when bus plunged into river

    About 30 people died when a bus in Ethiopia drove into a river in the Wolaita region.

    Local authorities confirmed the fatal accident on Wednesday evening, adding that around 20 people were seriously injured in the crash.

    The roof of the bus crumpled and then fell off in the accident, where the vehicle appears to have plunged down a long slope before ending up in the river.

    The accident occurred about 40 kilometers from the capital Addis Ababa.

    The remains of 42 people who fought against the apartheid regime in South Africa, and who died in exile in neighboring Zimbabwe and Zambia, were repatriated on Wednesday. Government representatives were present at Waterkloof airbase when the remains were taken to South Africa.

    The measure, and subsequent ceremonies, are part of the government’s efforts to try to create closure for the families and relatives of the dead. Many of those who fought for the armed liberation movements ANC and PAC took refuge in neighboring countries.

    The movements had military training camps in the countries, but several of those who sought asylum fled the persecution of the apartheid regime.

    On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa of the ANC party is expected to host an official ceremony before the remains are buried.

    South Africa is negotiating to return remains with the governments of Lesotho, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Angola and Russia, among others.

    During the evening, a fire started in a carport in Staffanstorp municipality.

    The fire has since spread to a villa.

    Firefighters are on the scene to put out the fire.

    At the moment, there is no information on the state of the damage.

  • Secret Service agent suspected of sexual assault – against Harris’ colleague

    A Secret Service agent is suspected of sexually assaulting one of Kamala Harris’ associates in the presidential election campaign, writes CNBC.

    The agent is accused of forcing himself on the woman in her hotel room after dining and drinking with her and several other campaign staffers during a work visit in Wisconsin.

    A Secret Service spokesperson told CNBC that it is “investigating an allegation of misconduct involving an employee.”

    The agent has been removed from duty pending the investigation.

  • The V-top Kristofer Lundberg is closed

    The Left Party in Gothenburg has decided to temporarily suspend Kristofer Lundberg, as chairman of V’s party association in Angered. It reports GP.

    The reason must be that the party believes that he has not followed the party line and that he appears in an ongoing criminal investigation.

    The criminal investigation started in connection with a tumult breaking out between Lundberg and social debater Joakim Lamotte, and both accused each other of assault.

    The investigation against Lamotte was later closed.

  • Hurricane Helene headed for the US – residents flee

    Tropical Storm Helene was upgraded to a hurricane on Wednesday and is approaching the states of Florida and Georgia with stronger force than expected.

    The authorities have thus declared a state of emergency in the states. Residents have been evacuated and schools have been closed, AP reports.

    The hurricane is expected to be followed by heavy rains that can cause life-threatening floods. It is expected to reach the Florida coast on Thursday.

  • Explosion in court – six injured

    An explosion has occurred in a courthouse in the state of California in the United States, reports ABC News.

    A male suspect reportedly forced his way through the doors of the building and threw a small bag past security, which the court heard exploded when it hit the floor.

    Six people have been injured in the incident. They are not described as having life-threatening injuries.

    The authority urged people to stay away from the area.

    The man was later arrested in his car. Weapons and ammunition were also found in the car, the police said.

  • Woman dead after collision with truck

    At 2 pm today, a car and a truck collided on road 509 in southern Gävle.

    The occupants of the car, a man and a woman who were both in their 80s, were taken to hospital.

    Later, word came that the woman had died from her injuries. Relatives have been notified.

    The police have drawn up a report of negligence in traffic, but there is no suspect for the crime.

  • Surfer rescued from water

    The police, emergency services and ambulance have been alerted to a drowning accident at a bathing place in Nynäshamn.

    The alarm came in at 4:30 p.m.

    The person was awake and able to speak when patrol arrived at the scene.
