The IDF claims that the military detected suspicious activity on the border with Lebanon.

This is stated by the IDF on X.

Earlier in the evening, the Israeli military shared a map of locations where it claims Hezbollah hides weapons.

“We are operating in this area to eliminate the presence of terrorist infrastructure that threatens our civilians.”.

  • Sources: Israel is not ready

The US Defense Department does not believe Israel is ready for a ground offensive, sources told The Wall Street Journal.

According to the sources, the US believes that the IDF needs more troops on the ground in Lebanon.

Despite that, the sources state that the US expects the ground offensive to begin within a couple of days.

  • Macron calls for a ceasefire

French President Emmanuel Macron calls for a ceasefire during a speech at the UN headquarters in New York.

    – We call on Israel to stop the escalation in Lebanon, and on Hezbollah to cease missile launches against Israel.

  • Hundreds of rocket attacks on Wednesday

Hundreds of rockets were fired between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in Lebanon on Wednesday.

According to the IDF, Israel has launched about 280 rocket attacks in Lebanon, reports CNN.

Furthermore, the IDF says that Hezbollah fired 110 rockets at Israel, reports Haaretz.

The figures have not been confirmed by independent sources and Hezbollah has yet to comment on the number of attacks on Wednesday.

  • USA: Doesn’t seem like there will be a ground invasion today

The US is working feverishly to negotiate a truce between Israel and Hezbollah, AFP reports.

“We are holding discussions with Israelis as well as other countries to try to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah,” a US official told AFP.

On Wednesday evening, Israel said its troops are preparing for a ground invasion and army chief Herzi Halevi told Al Jazeera that a major attack is planned “soon”.

    – Hezbollah has expanded its firing range. Later today they will get a very strong answer to that, says Herzi Halevi according to Al Jazeera.

At the same time, the US believes that an Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon does not seem imminent.

“It doesn’t look like anything is imminent,” Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said, according to AFP.
