Cars, Urso meets Habeck: bring forward CO2 regulation review to 2025

Urso work is underway on a framework law on enabling

(Telestock) – Minister Adolfo Ursomet today in a video conference from Brussels with the Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeckfor a comparison on the automotive sector crisis in Europe, on the eve of the Competitiveness Council which will be held tomorrow in Brussels.

Urso illustrated to Habeck the key points of his proposal of European industrial policy for the automotive sector, which includes among other things move up from the end of 2026 in early 2025 the activation of the review clause provided for by the “Regulation on CO2 emissions from new cars and light vehicles”, for enable companies in the sector to plan with greater certainty the investments long term. A proposal that was shared by the German Vice Chancellor.

Urso and Habeck also shared the need to foresee an approach more aimed at technological neutrality and to provide for joint public and private investments to support European industry in the face of global challenges, as indicated in the competitiveness report drawn up by Mario Draghi.
