The developers of Zenless Zone Zero spoke in an interview about the feedback from players on the TV mode, which is now to be largely removed due to this.
What was the feedback? In an interview on YouTube, developer “Y” talked about the changes planned for Zenless Zone Zero. The developers created polls and even picked up the phone to ask players what they thought about TV mode. It was revealed exactly what players don’t like about the mode:
Zenless Zone Zero also has a lot of action to offer:
What is changing?
Will there be no TV mode anymore? The developers have removed the TV mode from the main story in the new update 1.2. The main story and other important missions will also be able to do without the TV mode in the future. But the mod will probably not disappear completely. The mode can still be found in other missions.
The developer Y explained in an interview:
But that doesn’t mean we’ll abandon TV mode altogether in the future. We’ll continue to incorporate positive feedback from the past.
[…] While there is some negative feedback in the community, we have also seen some players who really like TV mode. We certainly won’t be overhauling everything in one fell swoop. First and foremost, we will comprehensively address some issues in the mode’s design and implementation and make improvements.

What improvements are coming our way? With the 1.2 update, a new feature called “Fairy Auto-Exploration Mode” was added. Once the player completes a quest for the first time, they can send the fairy to collect the missing rewards. This is intended to take the stress out of players having to fight their way through TV mode to tediously search for all the rewards themselves.
TV mode triggers discussions
Is the mode really that unpopular? There are a number of discussions about the TV mode on the Internet. It stands out and makes the game unique. Comments on social networks show that players in Europe and the USA appreciate the TV mode rather than demonize it. The negative feedback seems to be coming from players in China:
How does MeinMMO author Nathalie Schnee assess the changes? Personally, I’m very happy that the mode in the main story is being removed. It was just wasting my time and nerves. Now I can devote myself entirely to the story and no longer have to click through a thousand screens.
