Utrecht wants fewer children placed outside the home

The number of out-of-home placements of children in cases of problems in a family must be drastically reduced. This is what alderman Dennis de Vries writes in his Youth memorandum published today. According to De Vries, the effects of out-of-home placements are great and traumatic. Moreover, they usually increase the problems. The alderman wants to give children and their parents much more say in the youth care that must be provided.
