Free streaming platforms M6+ and Pluto TV are entering into a historic partnership to add thousands of hours of content to their respective platforms. Enough to make the offering less fragmented!

The streaming market is increasingly saturated, with a proliferation of platforms and increasingly fragmented offers. Faced with the giants of paid SVOD such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Max, other players have chosen to turn to a free model for the user, entirely financed by advertising. This is the case, for example, of TF1+, M6+, Rakuten.tv, Pluto TV, Tubi and TV5 Monde Plus.

But to survive in this ruthless market, it is better to have allies! Also, the free streaming TV platforms M6+ – owned by one of the major channels in the French audiovisual landscape – and Pluto TV – one of the main global players in FAST services owned by Paramount – announced this Tuesday, September 24, a partnership to mutually distribute their channels. “This collaboration between M6+ and Pluto TV includes new Pluto TV content on M6+, new M6 channels on Pluto TV and an advertising agreement to develop the free streaming market In France”explain the groups a joint statement. Enough to greatly enrich their respective catalogs!

Pluto TV and M6+: thousands of hours of additional content

From now on, M6+ users can enjoy twelve channels from Pluto TV, representing nearly 3,000 hours of content and cult programs such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Just Tattoo Of Us, Baywatch, Olive and Tom, MTV Classics…

For their part, Pluto TV users can now access six channels from M6+ for no less than 2,000 hours of content, with iconic shows from the television channel such as No-Go Zone, Turbo, The queens of shopping or even The Marseillais. (n)

Finally, thanks to this partnership, the advertising branches of the two groups will collaborate. M6 Publicité thus becomes the advertising partner of Pluto TV in France, which allows it to monetize the entire inventory of Pluto TV in France and the Pluto TV content available on M6+. As for the sales teams of Paramount Advertising in France, they will also sell the inventory of Pluto TV on the market alongside the M6 Publicité teams.

Pluto TV and M6+: a strategic market with tough competition

Los Angeles-based Pluto TV is available on mobile, web and connected TVs, and boasts 70 million monthly active users. M6+, meanwhile, has 26 million monthly visitors.

Henri de Fontaines, member of the M6 board, declared himself delighted with this new partnership: “With the significant growth of FAST channels, this is an opportunity for us to get closer to an iconic player in this field. On the commercial level, this partnership strengthens M6 Publicité’s position on the French market by offering advertisers even more attractive and complementary solutions.”

Olivier Jollet, Executive Vice President and International General Manager of Pluto TV, is also very enthusiastic: “M6 is an ideal partner, offering a powerful platform, valued content, a large consumer base and strong expertise in advertising sales. By combining their strong presence in France with our FAST capabilities, we aim to create a dynamic and innovative model for consumers and the industry in France, as well as a model for other markets.”

M6+’s direct competitor, TF1+, also signed partnerships earlier this month to enrich its catalog with Arte and A&E Television Network (AETN), an American television group known for its documentaries. This allows it to offer more than 25,000 hours of content at any time on its platform. The battle between the two giants of French television promises to be tough!
