Cross-country skiing: Therese Johaug closes the Olympic door: “Then it’s over”

The 36-year-old Norwegian announced this summer that she is aiming for the WC on home soil next season.

But there will only be one season on the competition tracks. She states that when SVT Sport meets her in Oslo.

– It’s only Trondheim, then I’m done, she says, referring to the WC which will be decided in Trondheim at the turn of February-March.

Is it completely safe?

– It is absolutely safe.

Even if you were to win every competition you entered?

– Yes. It won’t be an Olympics.

The 2026 Olympics will be held in Italy, and the cross-country skiing competitions will be held in Val di Fiemme, which previously hosted three skiing World Cups, most recently in 2013. Then Therese Johaug won gold in the 10 km classic and in the relay. But there is nothing that will make her extend her career for another year.
