Daniel Dubois visited Tampere and was not impressed by the

Daniel Dubois beat Anthony Joshua at Wembley in London over the weekend. Amin Asikainen says that the 27-year-old Dubois can dominate the heavy series in the future.

If knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round and in front of nearly 100,000 spectators at London’s Wembley, can call himself an elite heavyweight warrior without worry.

By Daniel Dubois the superior performance at the weekend against the former world champion Joshua was so convincing that the 27-year-old Briton can at least now have a bright future at the top.

If Dubois wins a possible rematch with Joshua, he will very likely get to fight for the most prestigious titles in the WBA and WBC Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usykia against.

Dubois has fought 24 times as a professional and won 22 of them. The knockout percentage is immediately noticeable: no less than 95.

Dubois experienced his defeat in 2020 To Joe Joyce and last year to Usyk.

The Joshua win was the best of Dubois’ career to date.

It didn’t stick in the mind of the Finnish judge

Hailing from London, Dubois started boxing at the age of 9. He toured amateur tournaments when he was young and also had tournament wins on his account.

One came from Finland.

In the fall of 2016, Dubois went to Tampere to win the Tammer tournament. In the spring of 2017, Dubois already competed as a professional.

Finnish former heavyweight Olympic representative and current judge Pekka Ruokola was the ring judge when Dubois defeated Norway Simen Nysäterin in the final.

The 73-year-old Ruokola says that he has often been a judge specifically in the heavyweight division because of his sports background. However, Dubois did not remain in the mind of the judge in 2016.

– I don’t remember paying particular attention to him, Ruokola tells Urheilu on the phone.

Over the years, the Tammer tournament has featured several super talents besides Dubois, for example Oscar de la Hoya and Mike Tyson have once held in Tampere.

Future heavyweight champion Mike Tyson caught Ruokola’s mind in 1984. He still remembers Tyson’s punches well.

– When Mike Tyson was in the Tammer tournament, I paid attention to that. Tyson was really strong, brave and started hitting properly, even though he was small for a big league. He was really strong.

“The Complete Package”

Dubois made Joshua clear with his explosive punches and hard straight right hand.

Dubois fought actively and had the former champion on the canvas several times before being knocked out in the fifth round. The performance was downright crushing and, above all, entertaining.

– I’m a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to reach the top level of this sport and reach my full potential, Dubois threatened to the DAZN channel after the match.

What Dubois’ fighting style looks like the former European boxing champion Amin Asikainen in the eye?

The client says that he especially enjoyed how Dubois fought Joshua.

– Dubois started to hit the cross bravely and didn’t just wait for his turn. He hit it hard. Dubois is an entertaining boxer, and it’s nice to watch when there’s power in the punches, Asikainen tells Urheilu.

The customer brings up the Briton’s exceptionally hard knockout percentage of 95. It is in the same category as, for example With Deontay Wilder and Joshua once had.

The client emphasizes that a high knockout percentage indicates the athlete’s natural talent and innate punching power.

– Dubois is the perfect package. He has good reach and hits explosively and hard. He’s a big heavyweight, as many top guys are these days. Dubois is a dangerous guy for anyone.

A new superstar?

Dubois now has the delicious situation of being a 27-year-old rising star in the heavyweight division.

The top names in the sport, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, are both over 35 years old. Usyk has hinted that he will switch back to the lower heavyweight division and Fury has already retired before.

Joshua’s career, on the other hand, seems to be fading.

– Nothing really worked for Joshua at any point in the Dubois match. He was like in the wrong place at the wrong time and seemed to be even more of a shadow. Did something go wrong or was there something wrong with the preparation? The client ponders.

Asikainen believes that Dubois has every chance to become the long-term superstar of the sport after Usyk and Fury.

– Sure, Dubois has a couple of losses down the stretch, and that dims the shine. Now, good wins below, and he can displace the old champions.
