One night, Viola Ankarberg Rogersdotter, 24, woke up to a loud bang.
Her shower wall had suddenly exploded.
– I got a shock, she says in Efter Fem.
Viola Ankarberg Rogersdotter, a resident of Växjö, had a different awakening when she was awakened by a loud bang. The bang, which she thought came from one of the neighbors, turned out to have happened in her own bathroom. When she opened the bathroom door, she got a shock – the glass wall of the shower was in a thousand pieces all over the floor.
– I was just lucky that I turned on the light before I went into the bathroom, says Viola Ankarberg Rogersdotter.
“A bit annoying”
In the future, she will have a shower curtain instead of glass walls, if she can decide for herself. In addition, she worries about her cats, who can injure their paws if shards of glass are left in the bathroom.
– I’m a bit boring, she says and continues:
– I have vacuumed both before and after I have showered.
The explanation
As Viola’s shock wore off, she thought that maybe her cats could have caused the damage, but she soon realized that she always keeps the bathroom door closed at night.
– That’s when I wrote about this on Facebook and many people got in touch and said that it is quite common when there is tension in the shower wall, says Viola.
Glass researcher Christina Stålhandske explains the reason behind the terrifying explosions for the newspaper The construction worker.
– The shower wall may have received an impact and the damage may be so small that it may be difficult to see. And then the glass suddenly breaks into a thousand pieces, she explains.
