The disturbance on Friday in Ridgetown involved two men who were known to each other, police said.

One man was taken to hospital with injuries, police said.

After speaking with the injured man on Saturday, police said a 66-year-old Comber man was charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats.

The man was later released with conditions and a short date, police said.

Man charged after officer spit on, cell block damaged

The actions of a man in custody resulted in further charges, said Chatham-Kent police.

A man was arrested Friday on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and breach of probation, police said. During a bail hearing on Saturday, police said the man reacted to the type of release he was to receive allegedly by causing damage to the cell block area.

When advised he would be charged with mischief for his actions, the man spit on an officer, resulting in a charge of assaulting an officer, police said.

The man was not released, but rather, held on lease pending the new charges, police said.

Man charged with assault causing bodily harm

Officers caught up with a man wanted in an assault investigation dating back to June, said Chatham-Kent police.

A 53-year-old man was located on Sunday around 10 am and arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

He was later released with conditions and an Oct. 21 court date, police said.

Window smashed, cash drawer stolen from business

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in after a cash drawer was stolen from a Chatham business.

An officer noticed the front window was smashed at a commercial building on King Street West on Monday, shortly after 3 am, police said.

A cash drawer was located nearby, police said.

The business owner confirmed there was no other damage and only money from the cash drawer was taken, police added.

The estimated loss is approximately $1,100, police said.
