Company behind GTA 6 is looking for strong players for a dream job, but one thing stands in the way of your career

The games studio Rockstar Games is currently working on GTA 6. A job advertisement sounds like a dream job: In Scotland they are looking for a “screenshot capture artist”. You don’t have to know anything about programming, but you do need a good eye and a lot of skill in games.

What kind of place is this and where is it? Rockstar has a studio in Dundee, Scotland. They worked on games like Crackdown 2 as Ruffian Games before Take-Two bought them in October 2020 and placed them under Rockstar.

Officially, no one knows what they are working on in Dundee. But it is likely that they are involved in GTA 6, because that is clearly the next big release from Rockstar. Even though there are always rumors that Rockstar is planning to bring Red Dead Redemption 1 to the PC.

Rockstar Dundee is now advertising a position for a “Screenshot Capture Artist”. They are basically looking for a player who can play through an unfinished game and take wonderful screenshots.

Rockstar is looking for an outstanding player with a passion for pop culture

This is the task of the position: Dundee writes that they are looking for someone to capture either images or gameplay that can then be used for marketing campaigns or in the games themselves, presumably meaning something like cutscenes.

The job should be thought of as taking digital photographs of the street, only in a virtual world. The artist will be given the opportunity to move the camera freely in the game in order to get every conceivable perspective for the screenshot.

This is a long-term full-time job in the studio in Scotland.

For the dream job you need a portfolio with good photographs

What do you need to be able to do? First of all, they are looking for a good player who should be able to “master new and unfinished games.” They expect someone who “understands new games faster than anyone else they know.”

In addition to outstanding gaming skills, they also expect a “deep knowledge of and enthusiasm” for films, TV series, pop culture and music videos. Teamwork skills and enthusiasm for Rockstar games are also helpful. They are looking for someone who does their job well – no matter what obstacles stand in the way.

The catch for many players: Rockstar expects someone who is into photography and has a portfolio that shows that they can handle a camera, whether it’s a real one or a virtual one. So: “Bring me photos, photos of Spiderman GTA 6.”

It sounds like a dream job and many potential GTA 6 players probably meet 90% of the requirements and could actually apply if it weren’t for the requirement that you practically have to be a professional photographer. That should limit the field of potential candidates: They are looking for a passionate gaming fan who does photography as a serious hobby or as a profession – or at least has an insane collection of screenshots.

When GTA 6 is released, it could be a huge deal. And the promotional screenshots will be seen by millions of people. At the moment, however, it seems to be still unclear when exactly we can expect the release of GTA 6: GTA 6: The developers explain whether the rumors about the delay to 2026 are true
