Teresia Derlén, 48, has been assistant bishop and diocesan theologian in Västerås diocese. Previously, she has worked in various roles as a priest in England, so she is well prepared for her new role. She spent part of her upbringing in Sundsvall.
She takes over from Eva Nordung-Byström, who is retiring after ten years in the post.
– I am grateful for the trust that the Diocese of Härnösand has given me and I look forward to getting to know my new employees and Diocese residents, says Teresia Derlén.

Teresia Derlén has not missed the viral clip from Strängnäs Cathedral where Bishop Johan Dalman used generation Z language.
– I laughed a lot, it’s lovely. It is done with a twinkle in the eye. I spoke to some of the young people of the Church of Sweden and they promised to help me with interpretation, says the new bishop.
