The extortion story began in August last year.
The victim, who works as a hairdresser in Malmö, then received a call and message on Snapchat. He was threatened and demanded 10,000 kroner. The hairdresser hung up.
The next day, three men unknown to him appeared in his salon. The hairdresser was busy cutting a customer’s hair but was forced to accompany the men out of the premises.
Once outside, the trio attacked. They delivered several kicks and punches to his head and body.
Surveillance footage obtained by TV4 Nyheterna shows how a father and his son, from a few meters away, witness the violence and are forced to flee from there.
Tried to run over the hairdresser with a car
The battered hairdresser fell to the ground and continued to receive kicks. He later managed to get hold of a chair with which he tried to calm down. But the violence, which the prosecutor calls “particularly ruthless and raw”, continued.
The hairdresser managed to break free and run back into the salon – and took with him a samurai sword that was used as an ornament on the wall.
With full force he then counterattacked and chased away his extortionists. Two of the perpetrators started to run away. The third got into a car and tried to drive away – whereupon the hairdresser delivered several blows to the vehicle.
The next sequence captured by the surveillance cameras is when the extortionists, after escaping, drive back at high speed and try to run over the hairdresser. He managed to jump away.
The police have managed to identify one of the trio, a 27-year-old man who previously appeared in extortion investigations. He is now charged with aggravated assault and attempted extortion. The trial will be held in Malmö district court later this autumn.
The hairdresser’s actions have been assessed as emergency measures.
