Both films are immortal masterpieces that everyone must see

Today we are running two cult thrillers on TVwhich come from real master directors. Both the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino have unmistakable signatures, which are best seen in Fargo and Reservoir Dogs. Bloody murders, bizarre characters, idiosyncratic dialogues and a brilliant Steve Buscemi – these films are simply a must-see.

Fargo on TV: A kidnapping gets really out of hand

In Fargo, unsuccessful car dealer Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) hires two criminals to kidnap his wife. Her rich father is supposed to pay the ransom, but the plan gets completely out of control. Just like the two criminals, who leave a bloody trail through the snowy wasteland of Minnesota. The heavily pregnant and tough police chief Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand) stands up to them.

The Cohen brothers tell the absurd story with the bizarre characters in a completely calm manner, which will definitely stay in your memory, as will the one or other corpse disposal. The thriller in the snowy landscape was also well received by the Academy, which Fargo nominated for seven Oscarsof which he won two.

Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs starts with an absolutely legendary scene

The bloody story continues in Reservoir Dogs. Eight bank robbers who have never seen each other before meet up and are now all supposed to pull off a coup together. But it goes wrong and the men have to hide in a warehouse. One thing is clear: one of them has betrayed them to the police and is still a danger to the others.

Tarantino’s directorial debut already shows his typical film characteristics. The seemingly irrelevant dialogue in the opening sequence about Madonna’s songs and the need for tips is at least as legendary as the burger conversation from Pulp Fiction.

For Tarantino, the long introduction was particularly annoying to shoot, but it was worth it and introduced the bank robbers in a relaxed atmosphere before everything gets out of hand. A must for Tarantino fans is the recently released documentary Tarantino – The Bloody Genius *, in which numerous film stars look back on the director’s career.
