(Finance) – TIMthrough FiberCop, the infrastructure company of the Group, will build a Silvi an innovative plan of wiring which, with an estimated investment of around 1.6 million euros and in synergy with the municipal administration, will bring optical fiber to homes to make ultra-fast connections up to 1 Gigabit / s available. In fact, the Abruzzo city was included in the national coverage program of FiberCopwhich aims to create the secondary access network in optical fiber in the black and gray areas of the country to develop solutions FTTH (Fiber To The Home) according to the ‘open’ co-investment model envisaged by the new European Code of Electronic Communications.
The interventions for the construction of the new network, which will be coordinated by TIM, have already begun in many areas of the city, in order to make the services progressively available, with the aim of connecting 3,800 real estate units at the conclusion of the plan. Where possible, the infrastructure already existing. If it is necessary to carry out excavations, these will be carried out by adopting innovative techniques with low environmental impact, with interventions on the roadway of about 10-15 centimeters. TIM will work in partnership with the municipal administration to limit the inconvenience to Citizens and proceed swiftly with the construction of the new network.
Thanks to this plan, Silvi will be equipped with a network in optic fiber even more performing than what is already available to citizens and businesses today thanks to technology FTTCab, which makes connections up to 200 megabits available for 5,400 real estate units. The new super-fast network will speed up the processes of digitization on the territory, for the benefit of citizens, businesses and the public administration, and to better satisfy professional needs also related to smart working and distance learning.
