(Telestock) – Cautious sitting on Wall Streetafter the S&P 500 and Dow Jones indexes hit new records yesterday following the Federal Reserve decision to cut interest rates by 50 basis points to 4.75-5% and plans further expansionary measures by the end of the year. Traders now see a 59% chance of a cut of 25 basis points to November and 41% for a larger 50 basis point cut, according to the CME’s FedWatch Tool.
This morning, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) kept rates unchanged, but signaled further possible increases in the coming months. The decision comes after the hike at the end of July that had helped fuel volatility in Japanese assets in August.
On the front of the quarterly, FedEx cut its full-year forecast and reported first-quarter earnings well below Wall Street expectations. As for the Company Announcements, Nike announced that former senior executive Elliott Hill will return to the company to succeed John Donahoe as chief executive officer.
Looking at the main indexesWall Street reports a variation of +0.17% on Dow Jones; along the same lines, it moves around parityS&P-500which continues the day at 5,704 points. In fractional decline the Nasdaq 100 (-0.31%); on parity theS&P 100 (-0.07%).
The following stand out in the S&P 500 basket: sectors utilities (+2.37%) and telecommunications (+0.42%). Among the worst performers in the S&P 500 basket, the sectors with the greatest decline materials (-0.67%), industrial goods (-0.63%) and health (-0.42%).
Among the best Blue Chips of the Dow Jones, Nike (+6.57%), Cisco Systems (+1.65%), Apple (+1.25%) and IBM (+1.15%).
The strongest sales, however, are seen on Intelwhich continues trading at -2.34%. The negative performance of stands out Downwhich falls by 2.23%. Modest decline for Goldman-Sachswhich gives up a small -1.02%. Pensive Caterpillarwith a fractional drop of 0.66%.
On the podium of Nasdaq stocks, Constellation Energy (+18.73%), CrowdStrikeHoldings (+6.44%), SiriusXMRadio (+4.33%) and Exelon (+2.58%).
The worst performances, however, are recorded on ON Semiconductorwhich gets -5.54%. Significant losses for Old Dominion Freight Linedown 4.73%. In apnea Modernwhich falls by 4.28%. Global Foundries drops by 3.75%.
