Burnt frying pan? Then you should do this to save it

Burnt frying pan Then you should do this to save

In many households around the country live so-called home cooks who are not shy about standing at the stove and whipping up a good dinner for family or friends.

Today, we are most often fed food programs on television and live cooking schools. One such example is in Nyhetsmorgon on TV4 where chefs like Erik Videgård, Fredrik Eriksson and Zeina Mourtada often appear to offer both the presenters something good and to teach the viewers more about processes, ingredients and share a tip or two.

One of those who is not afraid to say what he thinks is Erik Videgård, who is often honest with his opinions.

One such occasion was when, in the fall of 2023, he told us that he never buys béarnaise sauce in a jar.

– It’s a tarragon flavored mayonnaise. It has nothing to do with béarnaise at all. Urk, he said then.

Erik Videgård dissed the usual breakfast dish

Another occasion when Videgård was outspoken was when, during the summer of 2024, he told Nyhetsmorgon how a scrambled egg should be prepared and served, and what not to do.

– The most boring thing I know about a hotel breakfast is when it looks like shavings. Terrible. I think you should make all scrambled eggs á la minute, when you order, he said then.

Burnt frying pan? You shouldn’t do that then

As we see cooking on TV, food hacks and recipes on social media, it’s no wonder that many people in the cabins like to cook.

However, it can happen that the tools you use wear out. Sometimes it can be related to simply not taking care of them well enough.

One such example is when frying pans and pots become burnt and black on the bottom. Then it might be easy to assume that it is used up and should be thrown away, but you shouldn’t do that.

Instead, you should carry with you the tips you can use to restore your tool to its former glory – in one or more simple ways.

Since frying pans and pans that are burnt often give off a bitter and rather disgusting taste, you should therefore try using bicarbonate when cleaning. The site House and Home has shared several tips on its website for how you can restore the device.

Then let the pot or frying pan cool and then pour in water and a little bicarbonate. Put it back and put it on the stove to let it simmer for a while. Then scrub with a sponge or brush.

Another way is to try using water and vinegar when cleaning. Then boil the water with a little vinegar and let the pan or frying pan boil for a minute or so. Scrub clean.

If your utensil is a nonstick pan or saucepan, you can try mixing hot water with a little baking powder until a powder paste forms. Smear the pot or frying pan in this and scrub for a while. Rinse and repeat if it doesn’t get completely clean the first time.
