Israel says it will formally challenge the International Criminal Court’s ICC prosecutor’s request for an arrest warrant for the country’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Chief Prosecutor of the ICC Karim Khan in May applied for an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, the defense minister of Yoav Gallant and three leaders of the extremist organization Hamas. Both Israel and Hamas rejected the demand.
According to a spokesman for Israel’s foreign ministry, the country today formally challenged the jurisdiction of the ICC and the legality of the request for Khan’s arrest warrant.
