When the police searched for narcotics in a stairwell in Solna, they made an unexpected discovery – a 3D printed weapon.
On the weapon, DNA was found belonging to a 27-year-old man who has been convicted several times and who has been singled out as the “bomb maker” of the Foxtrot network.
Now the 27-year-old man is being charged again, for having the 3D-printed weapon in his possession.
In March last year, the police were called to an apartment building in Solna due to the smell of cannabis in the stairwell. The police stopped several of the residents, tried to follow the scent and searched the stairwell.
When they started searching the ceiling, they finally found the right one. Drugs and a vacuum machine, but also a 3D-printed submachine gun of the FGC-9 model along with a silencer and a large amount of ammunition were found in the ceiling by the elevator.
FGC-9 – one of the world’s most common 3D weapons
The weapon, “Fuck Gun Control 9“, also abbreviated FGC-9, is one of the world’s most 3D printed weapons. The preliminary investigation shows images of how magazines and other weapon parts are created using a printer. The police assess that the weapon is mostly made by a 3D printer.
After the weapon was seized, the police’s National Forensic Center chose to examine the weapon and test fire it. It worked well, however at one point two shots were fired instead of one.
At the same time, the police were not entirely sure how to examine the plastic, which could possibly tell more about the origin of the weapon.
“NFC announces that they are investigating it in the authority how this should be done, but they have not yet landed on how to do it,” the police write in a memo.
Convicted several times before
When the police examined the findings from the stairwell, DNA from the 27-year-old was found on the weapon. The investigation also reveals images from Snapchat where the man is seen sitting with a gun in a car. Through all interrogations with the police connected to the 3D-printed weapon in Solna, he answers “no comment” to all the interrogators’ questions.
The man, who has been singled out as the “bomb maker” of the Foxtrot network, has previously been sentenced to prison for, among other things, weapons offences, drug offenses and public dangerous destruction.
At the same time, acts of violence have also been directed at the 27-year-old. In February, a powerful explosion occurred at an apartment building in Sundbyberg. The 27-year-old man was written on the address. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the police believe that the 27-year-old was the target – even though he could not possibly be at the scene.
The man was then deprived of his liberty and just hours after the explosion he was in the Attunda district court’s security room, charged with aiding and abetting the murder of a man who was shot at a restaurant in Solna.
