The next research day in Pokémon GO is taking place this weekend. What should you keep in mind?
What is the event about? Research Day will take place on September 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is the next Pokémon GO event in September 2024.
The focus is on completing various tasks and collecting the two Pokémon Quartermal and Kommandutan – here you have a good chance of getting shiny ones.
We summarize the most important things for you here.
How does Research Day work with Kommandutan and Quartermak in Pokémon GO?
Here’s how to get the most out of it: Your focus should be on spinning as many PokéStops as possible, because these are the places where you will receive the field research that reveals the two event Pokémon during the event period.
These are Kommandutan and Quartermak. You get an increased shiny chance for both during the event. Quartermak even appears as a shiny for the first time ever.
To increase your chances, try to play in an area that has a lot of PokéStops that you can complete one after the other. Then try to prioritize the easy field research and complete it quickly so that you have space for new research.
Make sure that your field research collection during the event does not fill up with tasks that are difficult to complete “on the side”.
Which Pokémon will appear next? In the wild you will meet:
Menki*
Stylus*
Stroll*
Panflam*
Chimp
You can also find the Pokémon with stars as shiny, but the chance of this is not increased.
However, these monsters are not particularly exciting because they are not really useful in raids or in the PvP league. Therefore: Focus on getting the shinies from the research.
Is there any research? You can also buy a limited-time research in the shop, which also runs during the event. It costs 2 US dollars (the euro price will probably be similar) and gives you more encounters with Quartermak and Kommandutan.
The two monsters from the limited research will then also have an increased chance of getting the shiny variant.
You should decide for yourself whether it’s worth it for you. The research is definitely not necessary if you have enough PokéStops and field research nearby. Then you should still have a good chance of getting the shinies.
Please note, however: There is no guarantee of shinies, neither one way nor the other.
Additional bonuses: Otherwise, the current events in Pokémon GO are still running. This also applies to the Psychic Spectacle, which runs until September 22nd at 8 p.m. You can also use its bonuses during this period, i.e. double catch stardust, extra candies when catching with good, great or fabulous throws and an increased chance of XL candies with these throws. In addition, the Max Tanhel is still on the move, and you should still grab it.
