Björn Borg’s only coaching job

Many tennis stars become coaches after their careers, but Borg has turned down all requests – except as captain of the European team in the Laver Cup. This year is his last year as coach of the team.

– I thought being a coach for Team Europe was a big responsibility. And my friend Roger Federer asked me. It is a special event regardless of the year, he explains in an interview with Athletic.

This year’s Laver Cup tournament will be played between 20 and 22 September in Berlin, and the European team includes world stars such as Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud.

Björn Borg’s words about son Leo Borg: “Great pressure”

In the interview, Björn Borg also opens up about how he supports his son Leo Borg.

– Ask any parent. You get more nervous when you watch your child play. I follow his matches. He feels a lot of pressure. He is my son. I think he is starting to perform much better and I love watching him play, says Björn Borg in the interview and adds:

– I support him, but I don’t train him. He knows he can come to me whenever he wants. He has a whole team around him. He lives in Stockholm, just like me, and he comes over. We talk.
