Mortal Kombat 1 is getting its first story DLC. In the trailer, however, at one point it doesn’t seem like the fights will continue.
What game is this about? It’s about Mortal Kombat 1, the latest part of the Mortal Kombat series. The fighting game will get the expansion Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns on September 24, 2024. It will launch with a new story and three new fighters.
In the launch trailer, the developers already show some of the new characters in action. There are also initial details about the story, but one quote in particular makes fans smile.
Kang becomes a little too conciliatory, the trailer corrects him
What happened in the trailer? We don’t necessarily expect a game called Mortal Kombat to be an in-depth analysis of the cycle of violence. But one of the characters in the trailer, Liu Kang, is ready to put an end to the constant violence.
Full of pathos, Liu Kang says to his fellow players: “I ask that we work together to break the cycle of violence.” Following this quote, the developers present a series of brutal finishers – the perfect time to remind us what kind of game this is.

In the comments to the trailer on YouTube, numerous people picked out this quote to have fun at the expense of a somewhat naive-looking Liu Kang.
What’s in the expansion? As already mentioned, Khaos Reigns will tell a new story. The DLC also includes Kombat Pack 2, which will include three new fighters at launch. Three more will follow. At the start, you will have access to Noob Saibot, Cyrax and Sektor.
Later, Ghostface (known from the Scream films), the T-1000 from Terminator 2 and Conan the Barbarian from the 1982 film of the same name, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be added. The Kombat Pack 2 will not be available separately, so you will have to buy the entire expansion for 50 euros.
If you don’t have the game yet, it might be worth getting the Khaos Reigns Collection. It costs 90 euros on Steam, but for that you get the main game, the expansion and the first Kombat Pack.
A professional player could have bought this expansion 10 times if he hadn’t behaved so badly when winning a tournament. Find out what it’s all about here: Player in Mortal Kombat 1 wins 525 euros, destroys a lamp worth 2790 euros while celebrating
