The Court of Appeal confirms the life sentences after the fatal shooting in Farsta

Four men were sentenced in the district court to long prison sentences for involvement in the shooting. Two of them, one from Södertälje and the other from Haninge, received life imprisonment. Now the Svea Court of Appeal determines the sentences for the two men – one of whom was the shooter and the other the driver when the crime was committed. The sentence of lifetime deportation for the driver also stands.

But the Court of Appeal makes a different assessment regarding the two other people convicted of involvement in the crime. They are sentenced for crimes against all the plaintiffs who were on and near the square, i.e. for more cases of, among other things, aiding and abetting murder and aiding and abetting attempted murder. One person gets a tougher prison sentence – 15 years and ten months, the same sentence the other accomplice was sentenced to.

The shooter got a picture of people to shoot

How the shooting was planned can be seen in the police preliminary investigation. In a chat, an unknown person wrote with the shooter:

“Brother everyone you see, just pat” and “Take as many as you can”.

It is unclear who or which people were to be shot. In interrogation, the shooter said that he received a picture of some people, but that he did not know who they were.

Shortly after the shooting, the two men who were sentenced to life imprisonment were arrested at a traffic stop in Järna outside Södertälje, after an intense car chase.
