At the end of the activity, the waste was weighed in order to immediately give participants the concrete value of their actions.
The The first meeting was held in Milan on September 10th in the green area of the Naviglio della Martesana, with the presence of 85 DEKRA employees engaged in cleaning the area together with Legambiente volunteers. DEKRA collaborators were divided into two groups, coordinated by Legambiente to deal with the massive cleaning of abandoned waste with attention to small objects and, in particular, cigarette butts. The latter were collected in separate containers to allow for specific quantification. In total 71 kg of waste was collected. Furthermore, the collection and monitoring contributed to Legambiente’s “Park/Beach Litter” survey.
The volunteer meetings then continued at Fiumicino, September 11th, at the free beach of Coccia di Morto, inside the State Nature Reserve of the Roman coast, where 110 DEKRA employees cleaned the beach for a total of 416 kg of garbage collected.
