Student transport in Woerden also in trouble: vulnerable children have to go to school by coach

Student transport in Woerden also in trouble vulnerable children have

Carrier Willemsen-De Koning responded that despite problems at the start, “the vast majority of journeys are now running according to schedule”. But that it is not possible in the short term “to arrange suitable transport for a small number of the children involved”.

The cause, according to the carrier, is a delay in the tender process for student transport. This has created a gap from 1 September to 31 December. “Willemsen-de Koning, as a new contract partner, has jumped into that gap at the request of the municipalities for a bridging period, but without sufficient preparation time. In addition, like other carriers, we are struggling with a structural shortage of qualified drivers.”

Willemsen-The King cannot indicate when all planned routes can be driven on time again.
