Videgård is perhaps best known for having been part of introducing Asian cuisine to Sweden. He has also run a number of different legendary pubs such as Videgård, East, Diana, Akvarium, Fjäderholmarnas krog and Halv trappa plus gård.

In “Kokkarnas kamp”, Videgård talks about his upbringing, which was anything but simple. When he was small, the family moved from Helsingborg to Stockholm and the first time would be lonely.
– From first to sixth really, I was very lonely. I had no friends, I had absent parents, I really had nothing, he says in the program, and continues:
– At school they weren’t very nice to me either. It was terrible.

Videgård continues to tell:
– I had no desire to live. Once they wrestled me down in the school yard and a guy put a pair of scissors around my neck. I was about to die there and then. It felt then that it would have been just as good, he says.

That would change later in the teenage years when the family moved into town.
Videgård then started taking ballet classes at the Ballet Academy and playing in a rock band.
– It feels a bit like these damn years, there I got my revenge. It makes the old… I don’t feel sorry for it anymore. There are so many other fantastic things happening in my life, says Videgård i “Battle of the Chefs”.

But it’s not just anyone he starts playing in a band with. Erik Videgård starts playing in a band with Mauro Scoccowho would later become a famous pop star during the 90s and 00s.
In addition, the band toured Europe.
