Aggressive methods, rogue companies.
Now the Left Party wants to see a ban on telephone sales.
– There is no reason to allow it, says Nooshi Dadgostar (V).
The announcement comes after the luck with the sale of the Social Democrats’ party tickets, where it was once again brought to attention that there are telemarketing companies that use frivolous and aggressive methods.
This includes, among other things, cases where elderly and vulnerable people are called and pressured into various subscriptions that are difficult to cancel.
– It is a sales method that should go quickly. It is difficult to compare with other products and they have methods that are very aggressive. There is no reason to allow it, says Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar.
– Nowadays, we have our phone with us 24/7, which makes us much more accessible. We therefore propose that telephone sales be banned altogether, she continues.
Reverse nix
The left party wants telephone sales to remain only in voluntary form.
– If you want sellers to call you and sell things, then we suggest that you put yourself on a list for that. A reverse so-called “nix list”, says Dadgostar.
What possibilities do you see in getting a proposal like this through?
– I have good hopes that there is great support for this in the Riksdag. Especially based on everything that has happened in recent weeks and the criticism it has received from other parties. Then you should also be ready to implement such changes in the legislation.
