Hearstopper Season 3: Have your tissues ready for the new episodes of the popular Netflix series

The second season ended with the two boyfriends almost declaring their love. But we’ll probably have to wait until we hear the first real “I love you!” Will that finally happen in season 3?

Nick wants to show Charlie how much he cares for him by being there for him – especially while his friend is struggling with mental health issues. But sometimes that isn’t enough when he’s having problems like this, as Nick’s aunt, played by Hayley Atwell, tries to explain to him. But it’s good to just be there for him, because “That’s love, honey!”

Series creator Alice Oseman, who is also responsible for the series’ popular comic book template, said the following about Season 3 on Netflix:

While Heartstopper always celebrates joy and hints at hope, I’m really excited that we’re allowing the tone of the show to mature along with our beloved characters. Mental health, sex, university ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie and the Heartstopper teens grow older, learn more about themselves and each other, and experience new desires, new fears and new joys as they get closer to adulthood. Different characters, different problems in Heartstopper Season 3

Nick and Charlie are not the only ones facing challenges as they grow up in the new Hearstopper episodes. Elle (Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao) try to get physically closer, which unfortunately triggers the trans girl’s gender dysphoria, Tara (Corinna Brown) is completely stressed out by her future plans and the rather quiet Isaac (Tobie Donovan) feels like a third wheel in the clique.

Oscar winner Olivia Colman will unfortunately not appear as Nick’s mother in season 3 due to time constraints. However, she will not be recast. Instead, her absence will be explained within the story. As a consolation prize, Jonathan Bailey, known from Bridgerton, appears during the trailer. He plays Nick’s celebrity crush Jack Maddox.

When is Heartstopper season 3 coming to Netflix?

Eight new episodes of Heartstopper will air on October 3, 2024 as a third season online on Netflix. Showrunner Oseman assures about the new episodes: “We’re doing something that feels completely different and people are going to be surprised.”
