LDC. Sporting Portugal – Lille: very bad signals for LOSC… Time, channel and line-ups

LDC Sporting Portugal Lille very bad signals for LOSC

Lille travel to Sporting Portugal this Tuesday evening, for their return to the Champions League, with doubts and facing a Portuguese team in top form…

Lille, who had not played in the European elite since the 2021-2022 season, are back in the Champions League this Tuesday, September 17, in its brand new format. Each club will now have to play 8 matches against 8 different teams. And the Dogues’ first opponents are none other than the Portuguese side Sporting, who are hosting at home for this first.

Before this Sporting Portugal – Lille, even Bruno Génésio admitted it: the Lisbon team are the big favourites. It must be said that the recent results of Ruben Amorim’s team speak for themselves, with 5 wins in as many matches, sometimes with huge scores. Bruno Génésio’s protégés, for their part, have not had the same success, with two consecutive defeats suffered in the last two days; first against PSG on September 1 (3-1) then against the promoted Saint-Étienne on Friday (1-0).

The Sporting Portugal – Lille duel therefore comes after two embarrassing defeats and the signals are far from green. Lille’s confidence is not yet affected but it could be in the event of a defeat for the entry into the Champions League. Of course, it is only the first day, but for the Dogues, it is better to pick up entry points because the calendar will not be more favorable in the coming days: on the program, they will have to face in particular Real Madrid of Kylian Mbappé, Atlético de Madrid of Griezmann, Juventus or Liverpool.

The northern players will also have to face other European candidates in the French Championship in the coming weeks with Lens and Monaco, all in just over a month. A victory would therefore be welcome on the LOSC side.

Probable line-ups for Sporting and Lille

For this first European clash, Bruno Génésio will most certainly line up his best eleven. Sporting should obviously do the same.

  • Lille : Knight – Tiago Santos, Meunier, Diakité, Alexsandro, Gudmundsson – Angel Gomes, André – Zhegrova, David, Cabella
